Okay for all of those who have seen anything involving high school or have anything to do with high school, you know exactly what I'm talking about. That's right. The school's pep rally. -_- It's not that I hate the athletic department or anything because I honest to god respect those people. Like they do shit I'm either not willing to do or I can't even do. So don't hate on me for that.
Ok maybe I resent the athletes just a little bit...But anyway, yesterday was our school's first pep rally of the year. I've never been to one so I didn't know what to expect. However, I despised every single moment of it. Not only because the guys behind me were douchebags but also because I slightly resent the athletes and the price our school puts on them. That was literally the first and biggest thing they talked about was which teams won and which teams had games.
Look, I'm as chill with the athletes as the next person but to be perfectly honest with you, the school treats them like gods and celebrities and it gets so goddamn annoying. I mean have you ever heard on the announcements about that girl who's painting got into the art center? NO!!! Because everyone else is so undervalued compared to the athletes! So, I respect the athletes and don't mind what they do but do we seriously need a whole fucking assembly dedicated to them and what they do?! NO WE DON'T!! Ugh and don't even get me started on the dancers routine.
It probably sounds like I'm one of those dark, introverted, I-hate-the-world type people but I'm not. I'm a creative writer, I love to read. And I wear bright colors a lot. I just don't like those pep rallies. They're stupid and pointless. Like, I secretly root for the teams at home in my basement while I organize my schedule and figure out my own shit. I just ugh, hate pep rallies.
If you have any suggestion as to what you want my opinion on, please leave a comment or email me!
Gracias babes!

PS. Rock on whoever wrote this in the picture below. I completely agree.

When I was in high school, they didn't have pep rallies be mandatory. You could walk out of school if you wanted to.. THANK GOD.. you know, since they held them right after school. But I know exactly what you mean. They treat the athletes like celebrities. That's how I remember the popular kids. Being athletic and doing everything. Like, good for them. They're athletic and all, but the other talented students should be getting attention, too, at least. Not enough attention is given to extraordinary people, like what you said for example, the artists. These are the people with creative minds. The people that know how to draw when everyone in the school draws stick figures for people in their projects. Sure, the athletes got strength and coordination.. but they ain't got creativity and focus like an artist does drawing a person.
